OKXICE and NYSE Owner Plan Onchain Tokenized Stock Trading
OKXICE has submitted a filing with the SEC to facilitate trading of tokenized stocks through permissioned Uniswap v4 pools on the X Layer blockchain. The venture, which includes the owner of the NYSE, plans to list 63 tokenized equities, enabling onchain trading of traditional stocks.
Cerebras, one of the companies set to be included in the offering, has already objected to its inclusion in the SEC filing. This move highlights the growing interest in tokenizing traditional financial assets and bringing them onto decentralized platforms.
The use of permissioned Uniswap v4 pools suggests a regulated approach to tokenized equity trading, blending decentralized finance (DeFi) with traditional market structures. This could set a precedent for how other exchanges and financial institutions approach the tokenization of stocks in the future.
