Ondo Finance Unveils Execution Layer for Open Financial Markets
Ondo Finance has unveiled its Ondo Network, an execution layer for open financial markets. The network is designed to cater to the unique requirements of financial markets, where high-speed execution and privacy are crucial, but record durability and verifiability are also essential.
The Ondo Network is a departure from the company's original vision for a Layer 1 blockchain called Ondo Chain. However, it is built on the same concept, which aims to separate the roles of execution, verification, and settlement in financial transactions.
According to Ondo Finance, the traditional approach to blockchain development prioritizes the processing of all three functions within the same ledger under a single consensus mechanism. In contrast, the Ondo Network separates these functions and combines different technologies to achieve high-speed execution and privacy while maintaining record durability and verifiability.
The network's first use case is Ondo Perps, a 24/7 perpetual futures platform for stocks, ETFs, and commodities. It also offers tokenized stock and ETF collateral functionality, initially supporting SPYon and QQQon tokens.
