Partners Banka Launches Direct Bitcoin Trading in App
Partners Banka, a commercial bank in the Czech Republic, has become the first domestic bank to offer direct bitcoin trading through its mobile app. The new feature allows customers to buy and sell bitcoin with a minimum transaction of $23 (500 Czech korunas). The integration was made possible through a partnership with Anycoin, a licensed cryptocurrency exchange that operates under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation.
The app supports single transactions of up to $68,700, with a total 2% markup, 1.5% for the bank and 0.5% for Anycoin. However, users cannot transfer coins to external wallets. The service aims to simplify the process for retail investors, eliminating the need for third-party applications or managing complex seed phrases.
Petr Borkovec, CEO of Partners Banka, emphasized the importance of regulatory clarity provided by MiCA in enabling this service. He also advised caution, recommending that bitcoin should not exceed 5% of a diversified investment portfolio. Currently, the bank has no plans to add other cryptocurrencies to the platform.
The integration reflects Partners Banka’s long-term strategy of creating a unified space for clients’ financial lives, making cryptocurrency transactions as seamless as traditional banking services.
