$PEPE Sees Record Token Outflow: Is This a Bear Trap?

The memecoin sector is showing textbook volatility, with its market cap up more than 2% on the weekly chart and down 4% in the past day. This pullback brings the total valuation back to around $23 billion, indicating that speculative interest among investors remains strong.

$PEPE has been a key driver of this momentum, rallying nearly 25% over four consecutive weeks and breaking above $0.000003. However, it has since lost steam, dropping more than 5% in the past two weeks and retracing over 20% of its previous gains.

The current market setup makes it hard to say whether this is just a healthy pullback or the early stages of a deeper correction. The token's decline coincides with it approaching a major resistance level, and memecoin capital flows are weakening.

A record 4.54 trillion $PEPE tokens moved off exchanges in a single day, marking the largest net exchange outflow since November 14th, 2024. This suggests that holders may be moving tokens into private wallets instead of keeping them on exchanges for selling.
