Petrobras Teams with Cardano Foundation on Blockchain Fuel Tracking
Brazil's state-controlled oil company Petrobras has partnered with the Cardano Foundation to develop two blockchain-based applications for tracking sustainability claims related to lower-carbon fuels.
The first application uses a Book-and-Claim model to assign digital tokens to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) based on environmental attributes, preventing duplicate counting of the same claim. This system separates the environmental benefit from where the fuel is actually used, allowing airlines, companies, or passengers to claim benefits even if the fuel itself is used elsewhere.
The second application tracks Petrobras' renewable diesel blend, Diesel R, through production and transport using Cardano's blockchain technology. Digital checkpoints are created as the fuel moves through different stages of its supply chain, enabling traceable records for companies to use in Scope 3 emissions reporting.
Crypto analyst Crypto Patel has identified a defended weekly order block on ADA with targets set at $1, $3, and $5, noting that most sellers exited ADA near its lows. However, this setup would be invalidated by a weekly close below $0.137.
