Pi Network Prepares for Protocol 27 Mainnet Upgrade and DEX Launch
The Pi Network has been making progress towards its Protocol 27 mainnet upgrade, with developers targeting September 15 for the release. This upgrade is expected to introduce automated market maker pools and smart contract authentication, as well as RPC server infrastructure supporting applications and decentralized trading.
The network's price rose 3% to $0.0964 over the past 24 hours as traders anticipated the Protocol 27 upgrade and the launch of Pi's native decentralized exchange (DEX). However, this increase suggests that traders remain cautious before the September 15 rollout.
Pi Network has completed nine mandatory upgrades since opening its mainnet in February 2025. The network currently boasts 421,000 active nodes after Protocol 26 was successfully implemented on August 11.
The DEX launch could be a crucial test for Pi's ecosystem, as it will combine an order book with automated market maker liquidity. This model was previously tested through the SLICE token launch, where roughly 242,000 Pioneers committed 15.92 million Test-Pi between June 11 and June 28.
With the DEX launch approaching, Pi Network's price is nearing resistance at $0.10, with a broader resistance band between $0.10 and $0.11. The Relative Strength Index indicates that Pi Coin price was overbought on September 3, but the MACD continues to support a bullish outlook.
