Binance Warns of Phishing Surge Through Fake Text Messages

Binance has issued a warning about a surge in phishing attacks targeting its users through fake text messages. The exchanges detected an increase in attempts to mimic official security alerts, with malicious links and pressure on victims to 'verify' or 'secure' their accounts.

The goal of these scams is to create urgency and lead the user to click on a link before verifying the legitimacy of the message. Phishing texts often look like urgent account alerts but contain shortened links that conceal their actual destination, making it difficult to identify the threat at a glance.

Binance clarified that it never asks users to tap a link in a text message to verify or secure their account. The exchange recommends enabling the withdrawal whitelist and anti-phishing code features to protect funds and prevent unauthorized transfers.
