PlayZap Becomes First Web3 Studio to Launch Game on YouTube Playables
PlayZap, a gaming studio that specializes in skill-based tournaments and token mechanics, has become the first Web3 developer to launch a title on YouTube Playables. The platform allows developers to create self-contained HTML5 experiences with no external network calls or file size limits. This means that games can be uploaded directly to YouTube without needing to use a separate game engine.
PlayZap's game is now live on the platform, and according to their X post, it marks 'Game #1 of many' for the studio. The studio's CEO, Abhishek Buchvani, has not publicly commented on what specific features or mechanics will be included in the game.
The launch comes after a July 16 post from PlayZap announcing that they had submitted their first title to Playables and promising that 'We'll be with you on YouTube soon.' The submission process involves passing through Google's review before being added to the catalog, which currently contains around 450 games.
