Polish Olympic Chief Detained in Zondacrypto Bribery Probe
The head of Poland's Olympic Committee (PKOl), Radosław Piesiewicz, has been detained in connection with a bribery probe into failed crypto exchange Zondacrypto.
Piesiewicz is accused of taking a €40,000 Patek Philippe watch from the exchange's boss as part of alleged lobbying efforts to gain favorable treatment for the company's sponsorship deals.
The case centers around Zondacrypto's collapse in April, which left clients with at least 350 million zloty ($81.4 million) in losses and an estimated 30,000 users losing over $95 million.
Piesiewicz denies the accusation, claiming he paid for the watch out of his own pocket and that Kral only assisted him in making the purchase.
