Polish Olympic Chief Detained in Zondacrypto Bribery Probe

Share

Polish Olympic Committee head Radosław Piesiewicz has been detained in connection with a bribery probe into failed cryptocurrency exchange Zondacrypto.

The investigation centers on a €40,000 Patek Philippe watch that the sports official allegedly took from Zondacrypto's boss, Przemysław Kral. The gifts were meant to buy lobbying at Poland's consumer protection watchdog, UOKiK.

Prosecutors are also probing suspected large-scale fraud and other crimes related to the company's money. Piesiewicz stands accused of taking bribes for favorable treatment of Zondacrypto's sponsorship deals.
