Polkadot Parachains: Interconnected Ecosystems Built on Shared Security
Polkadot's parachains are a crucial component of its blockchain interoperability solution. Instead of forcing each project to build its own security layer from scratch, Polkadot allows independent chains to plug into a shared base layer and maintain their own rules.
This approach solves part of the problem faced by standalone blockchains: attracting validators, securing the network, and interacting with other chains. Parachains connect to the Relay Chain, which handles security and consensus, while the parachain focuses on its application logic.
The Relay Chain is the coordination layer that verifies parachain blocks, finalizes them, and keeps the entire network in sync. Validators check block candidates against the parachain's rules before they become final.
