Polygon has removed 100 million POL tokens from circulation through a direct transaction on its blockchain. The total supply reduction amounts to approximately 1% of the asset's issued supply, with an estimated valuation of $10.12 million.

The funds used for this operation originated from the network's fee-collector contract, which held nearly 121 million POL tokens prior to the transfer.

This burn was executed under Polygon's EIP-1559 framework, which decentralizes future burns and allows community participants to trigger the function once contract balances reach protocol-approved thresholds.

The market did not immediately reflect the supply contraction, with the POL token trading at $0.1014 on September 23, 2026, following a 6.46% decline over a 24-hour window.
