Fed Proposes Stablecoin Rules Amid Growing Crypto Regulator Acceptance

Share

The Federal Reserve has unveiled proposals for stablecoin issuers as part of its crypto rulemaking efforts.

The plans, which are still in draft form, aim to regulate certain aspects of payment stablecoins, including capital requirements for credit and operational risks. If finalized, one plan would require stablecoin issuers to back their coins with permissible reserve assets, such as short-term Treasury bills and other high-quality, liquid assets.

The move is part of a broader trend in which regulators are increasingly embracing crypto and taking steps to provide clarity on its use.
