Quantum Memory Threatens to Replace Bitcoin
A device called quantum memory is being developed that could potentially replace Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Oxford lecturer Stefano Gogioso argues in a recent post that this technology will decide whether Bitcoin breaks or gets replaced by something better.
Gogioso, who is also the co-founder of quantum security firm Spooqy, claims that the development of portable long-term quantum memory will be one of the most consequential milestones of quantum technology.
This device will power an entirely new class of applications, including quantum money, which is the ultimate incarnation of a digital store of value.
