Quantum Solutions Sells Ethereum Holdings to Fund AI Infrastructure
Tokyo-listed Quantum Solutions has sold 1,000 Ethereum (ETH) tokens at $1,903 each to fund its AI Infrastructure Data Center (AIDC) business and GPU purchases. The sale resulted in an accounting loss of approximately JPY 17 million ($101k), as the sale price was below the carrying value of $2,003.97 per ETH.
The company had raised its authorized ETH sale cap to 4,375 tokens on July 30, following a written resolution by the board. This decision allowed GPT Pals Studio, a subsidiary of Quantum Solutions, to sell an additional 1,000 ETH, bringing the total sold since June to 1,904 ETH.
Quantum Solutions has now reduced its ETH holdings to 4,764.80 tokens, with 3,050 still pledged as collateral to a Singapore-based lender. The sale of ETH follows a broader trend in the industry, where companies are monetizing their crypto treasuries to fund AI-related initiatives and fundraising efforts.
