The fee itself may not have a direct impact on token prices, but it's part of a broader trend where clubs are integrating blockchain-powered fan engagement into their operations. Rangers were one of the first European clubs to launch a fan token through Bitci in July 2021.

Rangers' experience serves as a cautionary tale about the challenges of sustaining fan token value. In contrast, Philadelphia Union has taken a different approach with its partnership with Theta Labs, focusing on building an AI-powered mobile app that incorporates decentralized infrastructure.
