Regulators Gear Up for Crypto-Fueled Market Overhaul
CFTC Chairman Mike Selec has urged markets to prepare for significant changes in the next decade, driven by tokenization, on-chain finance, and a shift to 24-hour trading.
The CFTC is already taking steps to address these developments, including issuing guidance on 24-hour trading in energy derivatives markets and adding stablecoins issued by national trust banks as eligible collateral assets.
The SEC has also unveiled an 'innovation exemption' allowing on-chain trading of tokenized stocks, further highlighting the regulatory agencies' efforts to adapt to the rapidly evolving digital-asset landscape.
