Revolut Axes USDT Support Amid EU Stablecoin Regulations
Digital bank Revolut will stop supporting Tether's USDt (USDT) for its users after August 31, 2026. The move is a direct result of the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets framework, known as MiCA, which requires issuers to meet specific authorization requirements.
The EU's MiCA rules have been in effect since July 1, and Revolut has secured its own license from Cyprus' CySEC. However, Tether has not sought the same approval for its dollar-pegged USDT.
Revolut will automatically convert any leftover USDT balances into each user's base fiat currency at the day's market rate after August 31. Customers can still buy USDT until July 6 and deposit it until July 30, but purchases ending on July 6 are the last to be supported.
