Revolut Crypto Breach Exposes Data of 680 High-Value Accounts via Italian Government Email System

A recent data breach at Revolut exposed personal information of 680 high-net-worth crypto account holders. The attackers exploited Italy's PEC email system, posing as law enforcement officials to request confidential customer files from the bank.

The hackers used blockchain analysis to identify the target accounts, which were mostly based in Switzerland and France. They then sent certified emails through the PEC system, requesting sensitive data such as addresses, phone numbers, and transaction histories.

Revolut's systems and customer funds remained secure throughout the breach, but the incident highlights the vulnerability of institutions that trust government-certified email requests. The hackers have set up a website to release redacted screenshots of stolen data, demanding payment in exchange for non-disclosure.
