Riot Platforms Repays $200M Coinbase Credit Line After Amending Interest Rate
Riot Platforms has closed its $200 million Coinbase Bitcoin credit line after repaying the outstanding principal and interest. The facility, which was initially established in April 2025 with a variable interest rate based on the federal funds rate plus 4.5 percentage points, was amended in April 2026 to a fixed annual rate of 6.15%. As of June 30, Riot held 5,821 BTC as collateral for the facility, representing approximately 51% of its Bitcoin reserves.
The repayment allowed Coinbase's security interests under the collateral documents to be released, and the lender's commitment to provide further loans was terminated. The company had drawn the entire $200 million facility and identified strategic initiatives and general corporate purposes among the intended uses, including capital spending associated with developing data centers.
According to Riot's second-quarter financial disclosure, the company reported total revenue of $174.2 million, up 14% from a year earlier. The repayment of the Coinbase credit line is seen as an important step in managing Riot's debt and ensuring its financial stability.
