Ripple Expands XRPL Developer Kit with Machine Payments Protocol Support

Ripple has updated its XRPL developer kit to support the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP), an open standard for autonomous AI agents to pay for digital services without human intervention. This integration allows developers to use XRP or RLUSD, Ripple's dollar-pegged stablecoin, as payment options for these transactions.

The MPP is designed as a simple loop: a service responds to an agent's request with a price, the agent authorizes payment, and the service delivers the requested resource. XRPL already supported x402, another web-payment protocol, but this addition gives developers more routes onto the network.

Ripple claims that its machine-payment rails are multi-platform and multi-rail, making XRP and RLUSD first-class options wherever developers are building. However, it remains unclear whether this integration will translate into sustained demand for these assets or drive price gains.
