Ripple Targets 2027 Credit Launch Using XRP as Collateral
Ripple is planning to launch credit services using XRP as collateral to fund customer payments by 2027, according to company president Monica Long.
Long explained that many Ripple payment customers already use short-term credit to meet their funding needs, particularly those operating as service providers who require access to financing for their existing payment operations.
The proposed structure would connect lending protocols with Ripple's payment infrastructure, allowing XRP invested in lending pools to serve as collateral to finance part of customers' payment obligations.
Long said the company is testing this approach before its targeted activation next year and that it aims to extend the role of XRP beyond its bridge-currency function.
