RippleX Integrates MPP with XRP Ledger, Enabling AI Agents to Pay Online
XRP Ledger has integrated with the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP), allowing AI agents to pay for online services using XRP and RLUSD. This integration enables developers to use a single payment process for multiple settlement routes, reducing transaction costs and increasing efficiency.
The RippleX release adds XRP Ledger support to the MPP standard through its version 1.1 of the AI Starter Kit. The MPP is an open standard co-developed by Stripe and Tempo for software that needs to pay for services without navigating a conventional checkout.
XRP sessions avoid multiple onchain transactions, with individual payments settling in three to five seconds at a fee below one cent. Payment Channels support repeated usage, reducing the process to two onchain transactions: one to open the channel and another to settle it.
RLUSD single payments are currently available, but RLUSD payment sessions are planned for implementation after the proposed XRPL amendment XLS-93d is activated.
