Robinhood Bets Big on AI Infrastructure with $25M Crusoe Investment
Retail investing platform Robinhood has made a major bet on AI infrastructure with its $25 million investment in Crusoe, a firm that has shifted from Bitcoin mining to building data centers for artificial intelligence.
The deal was part of Crusoe's $3.9 billion Series F fundraising round and gives retail investors a way to gain exposure to the company without investing directly.
Crusoe began operations in 2018, initially using natural gas flares from oil fields to power modular data centers for Bitcoin mining. However, by 2025 it had sold its Bitcoin mining operations and focused on building infrastructure for AI technologies.
Today, Crusoe reports a total contracted value of over $140 billion and has deployed over 425 modular data centers in seven U.S. states and Argentina. The firm's energy-first approach to running data centers is seen as a key aspect of its vertically-integrated AI infrastructure asset.
