Robinhood Expands Trading Hours to Include Weekends in US
Robinhood Markets is expanding its trading hours to include weekends in the US. The company announced this new feature at its HOOD Summit in Houston, Texas, and will make it available next year after regulatory review. This move aims to cater to active traders who require round-the-clock access to markets.
The weekend trading feature was launched in partnership with overnight trading infrastructure firm Bruce ATS. According to Robinhood, up to 25% of daily trading volume on busy days comes from outside traditional hours, highlighting the need for extended trading hours.
Roughly 150,000 customers have opened agentic trading accounts since May 2026, allowing them to instruct agents to monitor markets and execute trades. The agents use models from Anthropic and OpenAI to make decisions. Customers are responsible for their agents' trades, and Robinhood has not yet measured the investment outcomes of agentic accounts.
Additionally, Cboe Global Markets plans to launch binary contracts tied to company-specific key performance indicators in October, subject to regulatory approval. These contracts will be available exclusively through Robinhood at launch. Eligible US users will also gain access to crypto perpetual contracts offering up to 10x leverage on Bitcoin and Ether.
Robinhood's expansion into the Canadian market is ongoing, with its acquisition of Toronto-based WonderFi Technologies Inc. completed in June. The company has stated that crypto is only the first step into Canada, suggesting further developments are planned for the region.
