Robinhood Lets Users Bet on Bitcoin Price in 2026
Robinhood is offering a trading contract to predict the price of Bitcoin on October 6, 2026, at 2pm EDT. The contract allows users to bet on whether Bitcoin will reach specific price thresholds, with payouts ranging from 12¢ to 80¢ per contract depending on the accuracy of the prediction. For instance, users who predict the price will be $85,400 or above stand to earn 80¢ per correct contract, while those predicting $85,800 or above could receive 12¢.
The price used to determine the contract's outcome is based on CF Benchmarks' Real Time Index (RTI). At the last minute before expiration, 60 RTI prices are collected, and the official value is the average of these prices. Payouts are usually made within one hour of the event's resolution.
Trading is available 24 hours a day, except for a brief maintenance window on Thursdays from 3AM to 5AM ET. Users can either hold their contracts until the event resolves or close their positions before the outcome is determined. Additional fees apply for trading these contracts.
Robinhood also notes certain trading prohibitions. Persons employed by the Source Agencies or those with material, non-public information about Bitcoin are not permitted to trade on the contract. Similar restrictions and eligibility requirements apply.
