Romance Scam Nets $9 Million in Hong Kong

A Hong Kong insurance agent fell victim to a $3.3 million romance scam after being convinced by her fake online boyfriend to invest in a fraudulent crypto application.

The scammer spent months building a rapport with the agent before suggesting she invest in the app, which displayed fake profits to encourage further investment.

When the agent tried to withdraw her funds, she realized she had been scammed.
