Russia Aims for 10 Million New Crypto Users in 2027 Amid Shift to Formal Legal System
Russia's Deputy Finance Minister Ivan Chebeskov estimates that the country could add around 10 million new crypto users in 2027. This prediction comes as Russia shifts from a mostly unregulated market to a formal legal system, with the Bank of Russia aiming to launch the new system before late 2026.
According to Chebeskov, some Russians use domestic platforms, while others turn to foreign ones, making it difficult to determine the current size of the market. The Finance Ministry expects most users will eventually switch to Russian platforms.
Chebeskov also noted that around 20 million Russians already hold about 3.7 trillion rubles ($44 billion) in crypto and related products. This number covers both direct holdings and financial products linked to digital assets.
