Russia Approves Trading in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT

Russia has approved trading in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tether's USDT, paving the way for institutional participation in these digital assets. The decision excludes XRP from the permitted list, creating a distinction between cryptocurrencies that have received regulatory approval and those that remain outside it.

The approval covers three of the most widely used assets in the global cryptocurrency market: Bitcoin and Ethereum, the two largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, and USDT, a dollar-pegged stablecoin. This move could increase institutional access to these assets and contribute to deeper trading markets, potentially improving transaction efficiency.

However, XRP's exclusion from the approved list highlights Russia's selective approach to cryptocurrency regulation. Rather than granting unrestricted access to digital assets, authorities are taking a targeted approach by identifying specific cryptocurrencies for regulated market activity.
