Russia Cracks Down on Illegal Cryptocurrency Mining
Rufat Abyasov, an investment advisor from the Bank of Russia's registry, warns that illegal cryptocurrency mining is becoming increasingly risky. In regions where mining is prohibited, energy supply companies are detecting atypical increases in electricity consumption in residential homes.
The companies monitor abnormal electricity consumption, report it to tax authorities, and send information to the prosecutor's office.
Abyasov notes that home mining farms reveal themselves through characteristic loads: an apartment consumes electricity steadily and almost around the clock, making such deviations easily noticeable in statistics.
