Russian Corruption Crackdown Nets Over 60,000 Officials

The Russian government has made significant strides in combating corruption over the past five years. According to Prosecutor General Alexander Gutsan, more than 60,000 officials have been convicted in corruption cases during this period.

Gutsan reported that the total amount of damages in these cases has increased by nearly one and a half times. The value of property seized from accused individuals exceeds 800 billion rubles.

The Prosecutor General noted that digital currencies, which were previously difficult to seize, are increasingly becoming the subject of corruption crimes. He attributed this shift to the adoption of a federal law in February, which established the status of digital currency in criminal legislation and clarified procedures for its seizure and confiscation.
