Sandbox Metaverse Platform Sees SAND Token Trade at Fraction of Peak Value
The Sandbox is an Ethereum-based virtual world that allows users to build and monetize interactive experiences using blockchain-verified digital land parcels and voxel assets.
SAND, the platform's native utility token, functions as a medium of exchange for purchasing LAND, trading marketplace assets, and completing in-game transactions. Holders can stake SAND to earn passive rewards while participating in platform governance through a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) structure.
The total supply of SAND is capped at three billion tokens, with approximately 2.94 billion currently in circulation. The token reached an all-time high of $8.44 in November 2021 during the metaverse hype cycle, but it now trades at around $0.043.
The Sandbox has secured over 400 brand partnerships, including collaborations with Atari, Jurassic World, Cirque du Soleil, Attack on Titan, and Bruce Lee's estate. The platform reported 7.9 million completed quests across two seasons, per official data.
