The recent awakening of dormant Bitcoin has led to speculation about Satoshi Nakamoto's involvement. Researchers at Bitquery Research have been studying the Patoshi pattern, a set of blocks mined in 2010, and estimate that Satoshi controlled over 1.17 million BTC.

This is the largest Patoshi pattern estimate yet, with the researchers concluding that 99.86% of Satoshi's coins have never moved since their creation. Despite numerous attempts to wake up these dormant coins, none have passed the team's test for being owned by Satoshi.

The researchers used blockchain data and analytics to reconstruct the Patoshi pattern, grading every block from Bitcoin's earliest mining days. They found that only 1,550 BTC had left the public Patoshi pattern, with most of this activity occurring in the early days of Bitcoin.
