Saylor Defends 'Never Sell Bitcoin' Stance Amid Strategy's Sale
Michael Saylor has responded to criticism surrounding Strategy's recent Bitcoin sale. The company had sold 1,638 BTC at a median price of $63,957 per coin in the last week.
Saylor clarified his stance on the 'Never Sell Your Bitcoin' mantra, stating that he speaks as one saver to another and has never sold any of his own Bitcoin holdings.
He also distinguished between his personal investments and Strategy's treasury operations, noting that the company is a public entity with its own capital management decisions. Since 2020, Strategy has disclosed that it 'may buy or sell $BTC to manage capital,' Saylor explained.
The company used the proceeds from the sale to pay dividends to shareholders, repurchasing STRC shares through its Digital Securities Repurchase Program. In total, $104.7 million was allocated for these purposes.
