Saylor Seeks Digital Asset Rights Framework Amid AI-Driven Economy
Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy and largest corporate Bitcoin holder, is calling for a framework of rights to govern digital assets. He argues that broader legal freedom around digital assets is necessary to help businesses raise capital and support productivity in an automated economy.
In a recent essay on X, Saylor outlines five core rights for digital assets: the freedom to create new assets, issue them to the market, hold them personally or through a custodian, transfer them between people and platforms, and use them for spending, investment, income generation, and borrowing. He says these rights should apply to both individuals and companies because an asset's economic value depends on how freely its owner can use it.
Strategy recently resumed Bitcoin purchases after a two-week pause, buying 950 BTC for $75.7 million at an average price of $79,670 per coin. This purchase brings Strategy's holdings to 846,000 BTC, acquired for about $63.8 billion at an average cost of $75,416 per coin.
