Saylor Sounds Alarm on Internal Threats to Bitcoin Consensus Rules
Michael Saylor, co-founder of Strategy, has sounded an alarm about internal threats to Bitcoin's consensus rules. In his view, these rules are akin to a constitution that defines property rights, scarcity, settlement, and power distribution within the network.
Saylor fears that certain factions within the community are attempting to rewrite these rules for their own convenience, which he sees as a violation of economic rights. This threat is more pressing than external enemies, according to Saylor.
One specific proposal that has caught his attention is BIP-110, which would limit arbitrary data in transactions. He argues that this proposal censors legitimate fee-paying transactions and raises security risks.
