Saylor Unveils 'Bill of Digital Rights' for Crypto Industry
Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy (MSTR), has unveiled a 'bill of digital rights' as part of his plan to unlock a $100 trillion crypto industry. The framework outlines five freedoms for digital assets: creating, issuing, holding, transferring, and using them.
The proposal, which was published in an essay on X over the weekend and discussed at Freedom Tech DC, aims to remove restrictions that hinder the economic potential of digital assets. Saylor argues that an asset's value depends on its owner's ability to use it.
He also advocates for banks to custody Bitcoin (BTC) and lend against it under standard commercial criteria, criticizing the Basel Committee's 1,250% risk weighting.
The proposal addresses tokenized securities, allowing investors to maintain direct ownership of assets and move them across service providers without custodial lock-in. Saylor sets a goal of enabling 10 million new companies to raise capital.
