Japan's SBI Group has announced a new digital asset joint venture with crypto infrastructure provider Mesh Connect and financial services firm Money Forward. The collaboration, set to launch this year, aims to enhance crypto purchases, transfers, and payments in Japan through API connectivity. The venture will also focus on developing on-chain payment infrastructure, ensuring seamless account connectivity between crypto exchanges, wallets, and other services.
SBI Group will contribute its extensive financial services infrastructure and expertise in regulatory compliance. Mesh Connect, a shareholder in Money Forward, will provide API-based connectivity solutions. Together, they will streamline procedures for purchasing, transferring, and using digital assets, while also enabling tokenized assets and digital payments for financial institutions and enterprises.
This partnership aligns with SBI Group's growing involvement in the blockchain and digital asset space. The company recently led a major consortium for regulated, 24/7 tokenized equity trading and participated in investment rounds for Temple Digital Group and dtcpay. These initiatives reflect SBI's commitment to advancing digital asset infrastructure in Japan and beyond.
