Schwartz Slams Bitcoin's BIP-110 as Legacy Chain Fix
Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz has criticized Bitcoin's proposed BIP-110 hard fork, BLAKE2b, calling it an attempt to 'fix the legacy chain.' The discussion began on X after a user described BLAKE2b as an attack on BTC, comparing it to earlier forks like BCH and BSV.
The user, Loogart, argued that pursuing a different proof-of-work (PoW) and alternative chain should not be considered an attack when participation is voluntary. Schwartz responded with a tongue-in-cheek remark, saying 'You're not still attacking. You switched from participating in governance to attacking when you refused to accept that you lost.'
Loogart defended BIP-110, stating that the attempt was to fix the legacy chain and that it was all voluntary. Schwartz criticized the presumption implied in the phrase 'fix the legacy chain,' responding with 'Listen to yourself.'
