SEC, CFTC Fast-Track Crypto Rulemaking Amid Clarity Bill Stalemate

Share

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) have accelerated rulemaking efforts for cryptocurrencies, following the stall of the Clarity bill in the U.S. Senate.

The SEC issued an order allowing some tokenized stock trading, while the CFTC sent a proposed cryptocurrency-related rule to the White House for review, according to CNBC.

Crypto industry leaders have expressed support for regulatory clarity, with Summer Mersinger, chief executive of the Blockchain Association, stating that traditional finance's entry into the market is being blocked by regulatory uncertainty.

The CFTC has been working on modernizing securities rules and aligning its crypto regulations through 'Project Crypto,' which began in July 2025.
