SEC Clears Path for 3x Bitcoin and Ether Futures ETPs
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved a Cboe BZX rule change, paving the way for the listing of six 3x futures exchange-traded products (ETPs), including Bitcoin and Ether.
The products, which are part of the Volatility Shares Trust, use futures contracts to establish exposure to the underlying assets, rather than holding them directly.
The approval addresses restrictions on leveraged commodity-based trust shares and the regulatory category that covers these products.
However, before trading can begin, a separate Form S-1 registration statement must become effective under the Securities Act of 1933, leaving the launch date unresolved.
