Taylor Lindman, the chief counsel of the SEC's Crypto Task Force, will be speaking at CoinDesk's Policy & Regulation 2026 event on September 22 in Washington, D.C.

Lindman is an unusual hire for the commission. Before joining the SEC in February 2023, he spent five years as Deputy General Counsel at Chainlink Labs, a key project in decentralized finance.

The SEC's 'two-bucket' framework aims to categorize digital assets into two groups: tokens that function like securities and those that don't. Lindman discussed this approach and the CLARITY Act during Consensus in May 2023.

The CLARITY Act, which is gaining traction in Congress, would provide clearer definitions of when a digital asset qualifies as a security versus a commodity. If passed, it could reshape how exchanges list tokens, projects structure fundraising, and existing markets register with the SEC.
