Securitize Stock Jumps 8% on South Korea Tokenization Partnership
Securitize’s stock climbed nearly 8% on Tuesday after announcing a strategic partnership with LG CNS, a move aligned with South Korea’s upcoming regulatory framework for tokenized securities. The collaboration aims to develop tokenized asset infrastructure for financial institutions in South Korea, covering tokenized funds, stocks, and stablecoins. This partnership is significant as it positions both firms to capitalize on South Korea’s proposed rules for tokenized securities, set to take effect in February 2027.
The memorandum of understanding between Securitize and LG CNS highlights the shift from experimental tokenization projects to infrastructure deals that meet regulatory requirements. South Korea’s Financial Services Commission (FSC) recently proposed a framework for tokenized stocks, bonds, funds, and other securities, marking a transition from pilot programs to enforceable industry standards. This regulatory push is expected to accelerate the adoption of tokenized equities, which have seen significant growth, with tokenized equities valued at roughly $3.2 billion, up 10.6% over the prior 30 days.
Securitize, which began trading on the New York Stock Exchange in July following its merger with Cantor Equity Partners II, is positioning itself as a key player in the tokenized real-world assets (RWA) sector. The broader RWA market, valued at approximately $40 billion, has expanded beyond yield-bearing assets like US Treasurys and private credit to include tokenized equities. The partnership with LG CNS also aligns with LG CNS’s launch of a blockchain infrastructure platform designed to support stablecoins and tokenized securities, addressing critical issues around settlement efficiency, custody, and compliance.
As South Korea prepares to implement its tokenized securities framework, the next steps will involve converting memorandum-level cooperation into specific product implementations. Investors and market participants should watch for clearer timelines, product announcements, and evidence that infrastructure partnerships translate into compliant tokenized offerings.
