Senate Blocks Clarity Act, XRP Remains Secure Despite Regulatory Uncertainty

Ripple's Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty has spoken out to reassure XRP holders after the Senate failed to advance the Clarity Act. The legislation, aimed at providing clarity on cryptocurrency regulations in the US, was defeated by a vote of 49-50.

Alderoty reminded the community that the 2023 federal Court ruling established XRP is not a security, and pointed to recent regulatory guidance from the SEC and CFTC as further evidence. The Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse also expressed disappointment at the outcome, stating 'this one stings' but remains optimistic about the future of crypto in the US.

Garlinghouse believes that the failure of the Clarity Act will lead to the rulemaking process being spearheaded by the SEC and CFTC. He expects this process to continue with active engagement from Ripple.
