Senate Clarity Act Fails as Democrats Block Bipartisan Crypto Bill
US Senate's Clarity Act, aimed at establishing a market structure framework for the crypto industry, suffered a setback last week after failing to advance in a procedural vote. Senator Cynthia Lummis blames Democrats for blocking the bill, which she claims emerged from bipartisan negotiations and expanded from about 300 pages to over 600 pages.
Lummis says that despite input from Senators Angela Alsobrooks and Kirsten Gillibrand, every Senate Democrat voted against advancing the Clarity Act. She criticizes Democrats for abandoning a bipartisan policy effort due to opposition to President Donald Trump.
The setback has increased political scrutiny on crypto policy and legislative progress, particularly after Trump's disclosure of $1.4 billion earned from crypto ventures in 2025.
