Sequans Communications Sells Off Remaining BTC Holdings
Sequans Communications has sold its remaining Bitcoin holdings, bringing an end to its corporate cryptocurrency treasury strategy. The NYSE-listed semiconductor company began unwinding this approach in May when it used part of its BTC holdings to redeem all outstanding convertible debt. At the time, Sequans held approximately 658 Bitcoin, but after the redemption process, the remaining assets were monetized over time.
The company's Bitcoin holdings had declined to 314 BTC by June 30 before the final sale in September. According to Sequans CEO Georges Karam, they 'monetized the remaining holdings in a measured and opportunistic manner.'
Sequans now has no outstanding debt apart from obligations related to government-funded research and development programs. The company is shifting its focus to its semiconductor growth strategy after restructuring its balance sheet.
