SGX Brings Regulated Bitcoin and Ethereum Futures to Qualified Investors
Singapore's main derivatives exchange, SGX, is introducing Bitcoin and Ethereum perpetual futures on November 24. This move aims to meet rising institutional interest in digital assets by offering regulated contracts that allow accredited investors to trade exposure to underlying assets without an expiration date.
The perpetual contracts will enable traders to maintain positions indefinitely while paying or receiving funding rates based on market conditions, a structure that has proven popular in cryptocurrency markets. This marks the second Bitcoin and Ethereum perpetual futures offering in Singapore, following EDXM International's launch of 44 trading products, including Solana and XRP futures contracts.
The Monetary Authority of Singapore will regulate the offering, which is part of the country's strategy to enable regulated crypto products for qualified investors while maintaining strict compliance requirements. The restriction on accredited and expert investor access limits the high-risk derivatives to market participants presumed capable of understanding associated risks.
