Sharii Faces Spanish Probe for Ties to Russian Intelligence

Share

Spanish authorities are investigating Ukrainian blogger Anatolii Sharii for potential ties to Russia's intelligence services. Sharii, convicted in absentia in Ukraine of high treason, is accused of helping Russia's special services with information operations against Ukraine.

During a search of Sharii's home in June, law enforcement officials seized a Glock 19 pistol, cryptocurrency worth approximately €800,000, gold bars, and other valuables. The investigation concerns possible tax evasion, money laundering, and document forgery.

Sharii's partner, Olha Bondarenko, is also being investigated, along with several financial transactions linked to Russia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, and Kazakhstan. Some of the funds may have originated from activities carried out in the interests of the Russian special services.
