SharpLink Gaming Bets Big on Lido, Stakes $200M in Ethereum
SharpLink Gaming has announced plans to stake $200 million worth of Ethereum through Lido. The company aims to generate additional returns from its expanding ETH treasury and make its holdings more productive. The allocated funds will be converted into wrapped staked ETH (wstETH), which enables SharpLink to earn staking rewards while retaining access to DeFi liquidity.
The allocation adds Lido to SharpLink's wider staking and restaking strategy, allowing the company to maintain greater flexibility over how it deploys its holdings. The wstETH will be held with Anchorage Digital, a regulated institutional custodian that provides secure storage for corporate crypto treasuries.
According to CEO Joseph Chalom, 'wstETH provides composability while allowing us to maintain institutional risk standards.' This decision reflects the company's strategy to increase the productivity of its ETH holdings and expand its exposure to Ethereum's staking and DeFi infrastructure.
