Shiba Inu Price Rises on Altcoin Rebound and Burn Rate Spike
Shiba Inu (SHIB) experienced a modest 3-4% price increase over the last 24-25 hours, fueled by a combination of factors. The altcoin market has been experiencing a broader rebound, with the total crypto market cap up around 1.75% and the altcoin market cap up about 0.72%. SHIB's price movement is part of this trend, rather than an idiosyncratic move.
The token's burn rate spiked by about 31,712% in a single day, with roughly 72.23 million SHIB burned. This has been touted as a 'burn rate surge' that 'ignited' tens of millions of tokens, contributing to the price increase. However, some analysts point out that the absolute amount burned is small compared to the token's enormous total supply.
Heavy exchange inflows and netflow have also contributed to SHIB's price movement. Over 287.59 billion SHIB flowed into exchanges over 24 hours, versus 174.88 billion flowing out, leaving a positive netflow around 112.71 billion SHIB. This has led some traders to ask whether the move is a 'real rally or bull trap.'
